Ok... I know I'm not the only woman who wants a lot of sugar (especially chocolate) for her "time-of-the-month" cravings. I have always found that curling up infront of the couch with a huge bowl of chocolate ice cream was a mentally distracting action when I was having shooting pains throughout my body. BUT ACTUALLY...
The truth is: High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is considered incredibly toxic to your body!
This sweetner was developed in the 1970's and quickly became the most used sweetner in all manufactured products. Today Americans consume more HFCS than sugar.
In an article about the genetically modified process of HFCS, Linda Joyce Forristal, CCP, MTA, states:
"I've seen some estimates claiming that virtually everything--almost 80 percent--of what we eat today has been genetically modified at some point... But there's another reason to avoid HFCS. Consumers may think that because it contains fructose--which they associate with fruit, which is a natural food--that it is healthier than sugar... that this just ain't so.
Sucrose is composed of glucose and fructose. When sugar is given to rats in high amounts, the rats develop multiple health problems, especially when the rats were deficient in certain nutrients, such as copper. The researchers wanted to know whether it was the fructose or the glucose moiety that was causing the problems. So they repeated their studies with two groups of rats, one given high amounts of glucose and one given high amounts of fructose. The glucose group was unaffected but the fructose group had disastrous results. The male rats did not reach adulthood. They had anemia, high cholesterol and heart hypertrophy--..."

So, what do we do with this information?
STOP!!
When reaching for that box of cereal or bbq sause that the family loves or that MUCH NEEDED chocolate bar...
THINK ABOUT IT!!
Look on the back of the product. If HFCS is anywhere near the top, do not consider the product as healthy in ANY WAY!!! If it's listed at the bottom, still...
Stop... and think about it!
